staples

this applies to food as well as friends -
choose the best ingredients
and try not to mess it up.

i like to stick to three extra ingredients -
(on top of the staples;)
n-joy !

i didn't quite "get" the corpse bride,
except the dark bits-
costume, sets;
a few songs,
lots of screeching in the background,
loved the scissors hand prop.
since running the dvd while working-at-home,
the screeching=volume turned down(neighbours) -
so i missed all the dialogue.
must be akin to "having" children.
- only this fulm "lasted" a couple of hours.
oh - and the volume button

spielberg does kid-films really well imho -
empire of the sun being a terrific example,
the camera angles and tracking
evoking the main character's
experience of :
life outside the palace walls so-to-speak.
- what a kid !
did he start the war ?

what matter,
life in the raw, laundromat on location.
tearjerker ending seemed to be tacked on imho.
(the touching of the hair etc,
implying the unrealism of the kid's experiences, and actions since their last contact.

nurse TV is on local channel 31 -
volume down,
*humms "back to work,
back to stamp layers,
back to the here and now again"(lyrics soul2soul)*

big fish - am revisiting this one,
am bound to see it in transit.
firefly buses material suitable for
general consumption -
(parents can be so fussy about
what their children see in public places.
)
the kid character in
empire of the sun
developed into a role of human as
enterprising if not resourceful.

the effects of politicians' decisions
- on a personal level

receta

the white wine has come in handy -
both for italian and japanese
- rice being the base for both.

soy, lentils, green beans
making up a protein complement.

20070525 10:00ish
running through series 1 dvd
at first look,
i reckon the office' subtext
has the manager as an
accidental genius songwriter
(on occasion).
a savant of sorts

"accidental" being one of the character's
operative words.

those/we who work in offices for actual currency
may find that the sub-text /
the script is what goes unspoken in the "9-5" world.

the character of the manager is validated however,
since his talking-head script is a word-perfect summary of typical middle-management speak.

here's a scanned transparency from early 1980s.

dear ether

you say ether
i say ether

indulging in another look at
'magnolia'

unusually
the rhythm of the editing
"gave" the film a disparate feel
-the threads woven through the narrative of the script,
will be interesting on a second viewing
since i know in advance which characters are
sustained throughout.

on a subtextural layer,
tom cruise' body language is believable,
his facial . .. (?too) believable.

what's the message ?
a strong one, tbt(to be determined)

no/yes pun intended.

Melbourne Waves Back

just thrown up there - need :
verticalising -
editing
the spider is a new one, alive !
i couldn't get close enough to i.d. the rather watchful being
the dead spider (a previous visitor) is the same breed,
hence the close-ups in preparation for the excursion to the museum.
sydney museum was great -
the expert identified the breed as
huntsman - male, probably looking for females,
not dangerous, would probably depart
the eggs come in sacks btw - huntsmn particularly enjoy dining on mosquitos

oh and we looked at photos of the koel -
a local seasonal bird who is good at camouflage, lays its eggs in others' nests
- selected others as it turns out,
link here for ausmuseum
it's been raining since this little album was compiled.
farmers are planting wheat !

houseminding is good -
exploring a different suburb.
different culture,

researching movies,
reading the water meter. . .
